When was the last time you walked past a shop and stopped dead in your tracks? Was it when you saw a cheaper version of that Topshop dress that you wanted? When you saw the massive SALE sign?
The constant 'borrowing' of ideas in the High Street has led to the fashion evolving into one big incestuous mess. An example of this is the Topshop 'Geek' t-shirts; I was over the moon when I saw it in Republic for a mere £12 instead of £20 - now, imagine my disappoint when I strolled into Primark feeling rather smug after my 'bargain' purchase to see the same t-shirt for under £10! You might argue that the quality differs, but where is the uniqueness?
I had a day off on Thursday so drove into Sheffield for a little cupcake date with my cousin (more on that in the next blog post). We walked down Ecclesall Road having a good ole catch up when we came across this little beauty!
The shop is quaint and filled to the brim with the cutest objects. I literally wanted to buy the whole shop! It had everything; bath bombs, jewellery, dresses, satchels, cupcake stands, books, personalised gifts, tid-bits for the house- you name it, they had it. Not only were the prices reasonable, but I also knew that there was little chance that I would be able to find something similar on the High Street. The visit was made even better by the lovely man working behind the till. He was courteous, polite and really made an effort to find out what we were looking for. I thinks I has found my new favourite shop!
I bought a beautiful cupcake stand...for my make-up *ahem* - for a mere £10! I was ready to pay for £25 and did all I could to not hug the guy when he told me the price.
Feast your eyes on this splendour...
I was over the moon to discover a hidden gem of a shop on one of the busiest roads in Sheffield.
Have you got any favourite shops that aren't like your typical High Street shops?
What are you views on the coping/borrowing that we see every time we pop into the city centre?
That shop looks amaaaaazing! You're so lucky to have found it :)
