Creme De La Mer

My Experience
I have often walked past the Creme De La Mer counter staring lustfully at the rows and rows of gorgeously packed products that I know I could never afford. Knowing that these holy grail products that the world's biggest celebs swear by would never be something I could justify buying still didn't stop me from pining after them.  I decided that I really wanted to try at least a sample and took the plunge and headed over to the Creme De La Mer counter in Manchester with my friend.

We were approached by the loveliest sales assistant ever who has the most amazing skin! He talked us through the history of the brand, asked what we were interested in and identified our skin types within 10 minutes. He understood that we wanted to try the products before buying them at full price (ahem) so gave us little goody bags filled with a few samples of the moisturisers and eye serums. The above photo shows deluxe samples that the assistant gave me and samples that my sister got with her separate purchase.

Product History
I really wanted to be disappointed with the products so I wouldn't have to buy them at full price; unfortunately, the products really are as good as the hype that surrounds them. It was originally developed by NASA scientist Max Huber to treat his chemical burns which he sustained in an explosion during an experiment. Max Huber believed that sea kelp could help his injuries because of its endless ability to regenerate itself and the way it retains moisture, The kelp was, and still is, hand-harvested and fermented gently with pure ingredients. This eventually transforms into the nutrient packed Miracle Broth which is infused into every Creme De La Mer product.

                                                                                               Thoughts
Oh.My.Goodness.Me! I thought the L'occitane Angelica Hydration Cream would be irreplaceable as my holy grail moisturiser but the Creme De La Mer 'The Moisturising Gel Cream' has just taken it's place. I have never had a moisturiser which has single handedly made my skin visibly more hydrated and radiant in one application. The smallest amount goes a long way - the guy at the counter told us that most people finish it within 2 months by mistake because they use too much (and at £105 that is one expensive mistake). I have been applying it religiously every single morning after my Caudalie Beauty Elixer and the combination really does wonders for my skin. However, as much as I LOVE using these samples there is no way that I can justify spending over £100 on a moisturiser - I am hoping that when I eventually get a real job I can treat myself to one of these babies, but for now I will do my utmost best to make these sample pots last for as long as possible!

What are your thoughts on Creme De La Mer?
What is the most expensive beauty/skincare product in your collection?

  1. I just couldn't face spending that much on a moisturiser unless I was seriously made of money!
