Mac Blush | It's a 'Love Thing'...

Mac products have been circling the blog hemisphere for as long as I can remember. I always walked past the counter and felt a bit intimated by the gorgeous makeup artists (by no fault of their own) and the crowds of people who seemed to know exactly what they were doing in the chaotic environment. The countless rave reviews, the gorgeous collections and the beautiful packaging finally wore me down and I made my way to the counter filled with determination; I WILL buy something!

Purchase
I knew that I wanted a blusher but the rows and rows of colours baffled me; I wanted to buy them ALL! The lovely make-up artist sat me down and asked me what I was looking for and what kind of effect I wanted. She listened attentively and came up with a great selection for me. Unfortunately, me being the fussy madam that I am, I wasn't blown over by any of the blushes. I turned to my friend to say that it was a wasted trip and that we should go when I realised that I knew the exact shade of blusher I wanted...the one she was wearing! It was called 'Love Thing'.

Product Description
The make-up artist tried 'Love Thing' on  me and I was in love! It's a gorgeous mineralised blusher. The deep rich cranberry/burgundy colour was perfect for my darker skin tone and the hint of shimmer really enhances the colour and adds dimension to it. The colour pay off depends on how heavy handed you are in your application; you can have a nice flush of pink or you can build it up to a really intense colour. The dark colour means that you can also double this as an eye shadow. It was £19 which is quite reasonable to me.

First Impression
I knew that the blusher was really pigmented but I underestimated the colour pay off, which resulted in my first impression being a really bad one. I used the Real Techniques stippling brush because I wanted a controlled application and finish. I dabbed the brush into the blush, not too hard or too light, and started applying it; OMG, I looked like a clown! It was horrendous! I always have a light blush so it just looked so out of place on my face. No amount of buffing made the colour lighten up, in the end I just had to cover it up with my foundation. Not the best first impression!

Thoughts now...?
Even though we got off on the wrong foot I actually am in love with this blusher. I just have to think about how much product is on my brush which isn't much of an issue for me. I love the colour pay off, it stays on all day, what more could you want? I sometimes find that I am a bit heavy handed so I just use a little foundation to tone the colour down a little bit.

Would I recommend?
This is a bit tricky because it depends on your personal taste. I would recommend it to people with darker skin tones and girls who like the 'I-have-got-my-blush-on-my-face-and-I-will-make-it-as-obvious-as-I-want' look. If you are pale then the strong colour might make you look washed out instead of warmed up. Either way, please go to your nearest Mac counter and try this on because it just the most beautiful blush.
